Welcome to kindergarten! Kindergarten is a milestone in your child’s life. It is not only the beginning of his or her first formal education, but will be the first step toward life-long learning and social participation. New experiences and friends will make this year a special time for you and your child. I have planned many exciting activities this school year and am anxious to share them with you and your little ones.

School Hours

Students can enter the classroom at 8:30. Morning kindergarten class starts at 8:45 and ends at 11:15. If at any time your child is absent, please send a note. Also if your child has a change in how they are going home, we need a note. We want to ensure your child gets home safely.

Parents

You are the first and most influential teachers your child will have; therefore we view the education of your child as a partnership.

Parents are expected to:

-get child to school, on time, every day

-support what he/she is learning in school

-assist your child in the learning process, and

-send your child in clothing and shoes they can paint, run and play in.

Volunteers

We encourage all parents to get involved at Cummings by volunteering either in the classroom, field trips, and/or assist with school wide activities. Kindergarten classrooms need parents to help with all kinds of jobs from cutting and coloring to working with small groups; some jobs can even be done at home. Please fill out the volunteer form and criminal history report so you are ready to volunteer.

I would like to share my vision for your child. It is my desire that they will leave knowing that I truly cared for them. I also want them to leave having developed a respect for their community members, an appreciation for learning, the ability to work cooperatively with others and lastly a love for reading and writing!

This is going to be a great year full of learning and fun. If you have any further questions, concerns, or comments please feel free to contact me.
